Address of the Adyg Republic social movement "Cherkes Congress"
Dear Mr. Pottering,
In October 11, 2006 20 Cherkes (Adyg) organizations from 9 countries appealed to Europarliament with the aim to admit genocide committed by Russian state in the period of Russian-Caucasian war and colonization of Circassia in 18th - 19th cc.
Till nowadays Russian Federation as an assignee and successor of Russian State hasn't undertaken any actions which could solve Circassian problem.
Circassians live divided into 4 subjects on their historical territory. More than 80% of ethnic Circassians live outside their historical native land in 50 different countries. Under the law their legal status in Russian Federation is not defined. The attempts of Circassians to return to their native land are very rare because of the counteraction of federal power. Thus the declaration the genocide of Circassians by Europarliament is still of current importance.
Mr. Pottering! We would like to know on what phase is consideration of our appeal to Europarliament with the aim to admit genocide. Your support in this case would help to restore the historical justice, that is to help Circassians to find their native land.
